A fantastic example of the absolute futility of big government bureacracy. All the while the middle class gets squeezed into less and less buying power. I've lived in and around the Windy City 54 years(shhh, don't tell) and how is the current state of the CPS? I've looked at the the CPS my whole life and the CPS is producing sub-par students(many not being able to read, write, nor do math) who are thrust into the real world totally unprepared for the real world. The adult world eat these people alive. Year after year, the school board, administrators, and politicians sit back, collect, and watch this system fail, decade after decade. This is criminal. This works for me too ! What a great band they were ! So talented, great vocals, and rocking as good as the 90's and the Seattle sound got. Awesome, really. But, they are no more. For their beautifully voiced lead singer, Layne Staley is dead. YES, JOHNNY ! Layne tragically died of a heroin overdose a ways back. So sadly did this man isolate from the world and friends, his body was not found for 3 weeks. Jesus Christ, I still have not recovered from this death. I was, and still am a huge fan. Yes, Alice in Wonderland - In Chains, we are. The ironies, the sadness, Layne's death was an enormous loss not just to the rock-n-roll world, but to the world at large. A great victory for those that keep drug addiction alive and well in this country.

I volunteer at the VA Hospital rehab unit every Saturday night. My God, these men @ women serving our nation are a mess. They are me. The facility does wonderful work for these so very sick people. And I would know for as stated, I am them, they are me. They keep me sober, they keep me alive. No matter how long I stay sober(19 years), I need to be in that room as much as they, maybe more. Once an addict, always an addict.
We try to reach them by explaining how good being clean @ sober can be. How awesomely great just not wanting to drink is. How beautiful life can be.
How so ugly my life was.
The rewards of sobriety are limitless. Stuff money could never buy. Tho, since sober, I do seem to have a little more cash, usually. LOVE-REAL FRIENDS-GOOD RELATIONS-COMFORT-INNER PEACE-NO LEGAL TROUBLE-REAL FUN-GOOD HEALTH ! To name just a few of these wonderful benefits. All the little things that so easily can be taken for granted every second of everyday. But without, they mean everything.
God given - A breath of fresh air, a smile, a laugh, fun ! Rock-n-roll !! I do so dig it !! Sober sex rules in case you were wondering. Watch your kids grow up. My mother saw me get sober ! Sweet Jesus, how good life can be. My worst day sober, better than my best day drunk !
